Denatured alcohol (and other chemicals like DEET) strip sharpie right off, so any spillage at all would leave you with an unmarked bottle. Your better off with other forms of marking it (tape, colored cap, etc), but since I hike with others who may or may not be used to my systems I use a different type of bottle, one

To preface, most alcohol stove users are lightweight or ultralightweight backpackers/hikers/whatever. We're very likely to throw everything on a precise scale and weight each and every item, opting for the lightest method to solve our needs.

Crashplan - about the only economical large storage backup solution. I used to do it with offsite raid arrays, but frankly its cost prohibitive, especially if you want version control and figuring out seamless sync is harder than most give credit. I pay approximately 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of maintaining my old raided

I mostly use Locale (more user friendly) but own Tasker as well and use it for when Locale isn't able to do what I'm looking for. Things I do:

I've used the same idea for larger kites, but I wouldn't recommend it for a balloon of that size.

While not "unbreakable" dynemma or spectra cord are radically stronger than traditional masonary twin or fishing line. Many industries use larger versions in industrial rigging, all the way up to using them for lifting cargo containers.

Just ask for the easy mix stuff, your local folks will point you to the right stuff.

I've found that you never know when you're going to have the "winner" shot that needs a little more white balance options and RAW captures far greater depth information even if you can't initially see it.

You can always use Wake On Lan to start your destination computer, wait a few minutes and then initiate your VPN connection.

Yes, it will add traffic. The exact amount will depend on the level of encryption used by the software.

I've got 6TB at home (mostly business data and raw video that I shoot for company events etc) and crashplan has been working well for me. Took a while to get the first full snapshot, but it's kept up and I even had 1tb lost due to a storage snaffu and it was recovered without problem. It also does file versioning, so

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that this is really directed as a ploy to shore up one of those lovely check boxes for enterprises who are comparing Microsoft's Office 365 vs Google Apps. 365 offers sky drive w/ mesh functionality to more or less mimic Dropbox with a lot of extras.

Was it Win7 as released, or fully patched SP1?

As a DIY project, it's interesting that he got it to look as good as he did, that said, almost all backpackers now days have switched to internal frame packs unless you have specific need to lash things externally to your pack (such as hunters). Those who still lash external suffer from a lot of gear flop and worse

To the folks saying it's wasteful to run the oven for this: just throw in a few eggs when making dinner or any other meal that runs at a similar temperature - presto no wasted heat :)

As a person who lives at high altitude, anything that would eliminate the whole water not boiling at the same temperature sounds worth trying. When I lived at sea level, I had it down pat, no problems, but boiling water here isn't even close to 212F to it's a pain to get the right dwell time down.

Let's be clear, it's not as simple as that.

You are correct, it isn't in Office 2011. I meant to clarify that it's available through the web interface on the Mac. IOS however has a dedicated app for both the ipad and iphone.

Here's an example, granted I can't tell for sure what type of event this is:
