That makes sense, especially considering how the mission had gone up to that point. I remember just assuming you "had" to kill them, a scary thought in and of itself.

Ah thanks, yeah a few comments here have clarified that. It was all just so fast for me that I didn't even think about it until afterwards, and that's when it hit me like a brick.
For all of the shit the COD series has gotten over the years - and I'd argue much of it has been deserved - I feel that most people should be able to acknowledge that, up to MW2, the series was very, very solid and that was the last truly great entry that didn't feel entirely repetitive.
Ah yeah I wasn't sure, I just know I shot all three of them "to be safe" and felt pretty horrid about it. In a game/ending built on rationalizations, that would've been more "okay" for me but it was all so fast and intense...
Also a very good point. I always wonder with these kind of scenarios if something very similar is happening pretty much everywhere else - 7 billion people, America can't always be the only ones left with XYZ important thing - but certainly for everyone on the continent that may very well have been their best hope,…
I'm curious why you'd connect that to bad design...bad storytelling, maybe, though it seems more like just a disagreement with the path of the game. It seemed to me that there's no other way out of that mission - and to be fair it's not like any other parts of the game left you with tons of choices regarding who to…
Game: The Last of Us
You know it's a good season when Kentucky is good...my all-time favorite year in college football was the absolutely insane 2007. Boise State's Fiesta Bowl win started the year and the subsequent season was all kinds of crazy, including Andre Williams leading Kentucky to an amazing win over LSU, Loved the surprise…
Hey now...I'm a homer so my reasons are closer to the heart but in terms of "historical" clubs the San Jose Earthquakes have a name and history as old as the Sounders, even have 1974 in their new crest. Sure their MLS history has been a bit iffy - starting as the Clash, moving to Houston and then coming back as the…
The big difference between Redskins and NAACP/United Negro College Fund is those latter two organizations are almost entirely run by the people who, when it was founded, were called by those terms. You can count on one hand the amount of Indians/Native Americans/First Nations people/whatever term you like who work for…
While you may be right, the league is called the "Champions" League and I like the idea of rewarding the top actual league champions with at least a plum Pot 1 spot. Those teams from the Big 4 leagues should be good enough to advance anyway.
That was the one where half of the actors had their roles cut, including the lead, right?
In the same boat, Greg...whenever I go to a Sharks game I always amuse myself trying to count how many other people I can spot. Counting myself - and some years even Mike Grier - I usually stopped at my second hand, sometimes not even there.
I'm also a James Bond fanatic so I can openly admit a complete lack of objectivity with Skyfall haha But yeah Deakins' work was stunning.
Ah it's been a while since I've seen it - loved the film but if you're gonna watch it again gotta be in the right mood and fully awake so timing is always an issue - and I thought it was further in. Maybe just fast forward or get a stoned friend to do running commentary on that part lol
I can accept that premise, and sure, a 99 word article written by a woman for a men's health magazine probably didn't deserve that level of scorn and a public apology. I don't really know what the process is for something to go from getting posted to getting slammed on multiple websites to getting taken down and…
I'm familiar with Lawyler as the other announcer/know he isn't the Hot Dog Eating Contest guy (at least, I don't think so)...but seriously, if you haven't seen any of it, find a clip on YouTube or just watch the contestant intros next July 4th. It's hyperbolic comedy gold. So I pair those two. Adding Lawyler for a…
I haven't seen any Lynch but when they started dissing Brazil I was like SLOW THE FUCK DOWN BRAZIL IS A MASTERPIECE
Dammit it won't let me edit the last comment but I just keep wanting to add things...maybe I just don't know enough about cinematography to know how they handle situations like that but I felt weird seeing Hugo and Life of Pi, very visual effects-dependent films, win cinematography Oscars. I feel like they can…
Fair warning, there's a half-hour (and that might be underestimating it) sequence basically taking you through the creation of Earth/beginnings of life in the middle of the movie, dialogue-free. Space, plants, dinosaurs, etc. It's beautiful effects-wise but can sorta take you out of the movie if that's hard to sit…
