Tacky Jacket Zone.
You're certainly not alone in thinking that...
For those of you who want to try it out, here are three codes to download the Starter Edition (go to www.diablo3.com/guest to redeem them). First come, first serve:
Oh god...they're really still going with that terrible boxart for the GOTY edition, aren't they?
Ahh Walmart, never change.
As opposed to Diablo II, where everyone only put enough points into Strength and Dexterity to satisfy their equipment requirements, and putting any points into Energy was a terrible idea for 99% of builds?
Next step: field-test. In costume. And in character.
Because it's freaking amazing, has a great modding community, and proves that graphics aren't anywhere near as important as the quality of the gameplay?
If you want to filter those stories out, you can always set a custom URL like this one.
Yeah, just noticed that myself. I'd prefer it if it were maybe $30, but forty is actually not that bad when you consider every factor in play here. Hmm.
Oh yea, and SCII got split into 3 parts as well for "size" reasons.
Just three years? Seriously?!
The Witcher 2 can run at 60fps with most/all settings up on far worse cards than this.
I'm just hoping THQ itself doesn't go belly-up before Darksiders II, Metro Last Light, and possibly one other game I can't think of at the moment.
Not quite a fair comparison. For one, Blizzard has actually been working on (and has released) a lot of stuff since 2001, while 3D Realms were endlessly re-tooling DNF while all their money they got from Duke 3D (and subsequent licensed Duke titles) slowly wasted away.
Exocet seems to be one of those typefaces which only fit well in very specific situations. You're right about its misuse in advertising; it's a terrible choice for just about any sort of product.
Diablo's been using that font extensively since the first game in 1996; it has a very close association with the series. I'd go so far as to say that most people with little knowledge of typefaces would call it "the Diablo font".
It just went up for preorder on Steam. It's out on July 24.
By that, they meant platforms with a Steam client that can actually play games. So far, that's just PC and Mac. The "Steam" you have on your phone is not so much a gaming client as it is an app where you can check your friends list, wishlist, store, etc.
