Same about the bad ending! I got a pretty good one =) HoS does indeed have an amazing story. Blood and Wine has story and pacing similar to the main game (so still very good) but has some of the most amazing environment design I’ve ever seen. The way the light shines through the clouds to fall on distant landmarks;

I have no idea. They’re a highly dysfunctional couple, but at the same time the weird thing they have kind of works for them. It means it’s simpler for the kids, who feel like they have normal parents (while they’re young enough for the illusion to hold), but they’re both financially dependant on each other so don’t

It’s everything Kojima wanted

Yeah, it’s a tough call. My brother and I grew up with divorced parents though, who split when I was 5 and he was 3. That didn’t stop the arguing, and we just felt like we were in the middle of a game of tug-of-war all the time. Our dad in particular would do shitty things like refuse to pay for our school trips,

It’s never that simple though. My younger brother has exactly the same issue - constantly cheating on the girl he lives with. He doesn’t feel particularly attracted to her anymore, and they regularly argue. But neither of them can afford to live alone, and they have two kids they’re raising. If he left her then both

“You seem to have been bedazzled by Bethesda’s illusion of complexity, and sure, the illusion matters. But it is ultimately hollow.”

“Someone’s butt hurt and is going to need some aloe for that wicked burn.”

Then you have literally no idea what you’re talking about. Not only could that exact statement be applied to The Witcher 3, but it doesn’t hold true in any of Bethesda’s latest games. Fallout 3 lets you nuke a city off the face of the Earth. Skyrim let’s you build your own houses, and let’s you impact the state of

I adore The Witcher 3, but don’t pretend it’s anywhere near as much of a sandbox as Bethesda games are. You should be careful how you throw the term “false equivalency” around...

The switch never flipped. It’s always been this way. Anonymity + platform of speech = human trash. I see a lot of people talking about the good old days of Modern Warfare, but I still remember regularly encountering (and muting) idiots there and in Halo 3 when I played with my friends.

Depends on your definition of “next gen” though. It’s certainly got some great specs, but it’s only ever going to play current gen games. MS have promised that at least for the rest of this console gen all games will be playable on Xbone, and Scorpio will get no exclusives. So fast forward three + years to when Sony

Oh, YOU think it looks fine? Well, that’s that then. Wrap it up boys, the game meets Arctic16's expectations and bar for quality, so it must be fine. It’s bothering him that so many people are being “drawn into the meta-narrative of games development”, so we should just graciously bow out of this one and work on

Of course a big new RPG was compared to other big new RPGs, as well as popular older RPGs like The Witcher, Skyrim, and older Mass Effect games. How else are we supposed to gauge overall quality? How else are games as a medium supposed to improve if they aren’t learning from and taking inspiration from each other?

I think this is a much better approach too. It allows producers to be more professional, creating content that appeals to a specific niche, and not needing to rake in hundreds of thousands (even millions) of subscribers to turn a profit.

Ahh, that’s interesting. What about regular friends though? If you and a mate want a game’s night, drink a few beers... I think the first thing I’d do in this place is at least install a curtain rail around that thing.

That’s all a moot point as soon as you invite a date over and one of you needs to use the bathroom. Heck, this would even test your tightest of friendships. It only suits single life for people who intend to remain single throughout their entire tenancy.

So you’re against cosmetics in games like Overwatch as well? And Call of Duty? Battlefield? Cosmetics provide a sense of progression to the game in lieu of levels, keeping the playing field (mostly - gear stats are the big issue imo, not cosmetics) balanced while still providing content for players to purchase with

I think it’s a single emote so I don’t give a damn. And gear drops for free all the time, it’s just the mythic flaming wings etc that you need to save up, which provide a sense of progression for the game without ruining balance.

“Instead it takes over 400 matches or $5.”

I think the main reason Oblivion and Skyrim lacked in that regard was because of the walled cities. Consoles required them to be behind loading screens, and that necessitated the removal of features like levitation which often allowed for creativity problem solving in Morrowind. The latter games have still always
