Go ahead and throw 4k textures on everything in original Skyrim. Enjoy crashing to desktop every 5 minutes =P
Because it’s a Bethesda game. PC versions are just ports of console games. Disabling achievements was added to prevent console users (the only place achievements really matter) using god mode mods to complete them. It’s ended up in the PC version because it’s a lazy port and it’s easier to let the community fix…
You have no idea how much that means to the modding scene though. We’re no longer limited to 2k texture sizes with a select few in 1k to balance the load. We can go full-on 4k or 8k if our hardware can support it now. Same deal with post processing like ENB. We no longer have to worry about the memory hit and consider…
Then definitely wait for a sale, and instantly download a mod to remove the killcams ;) There’s a hugely popular mod that lets you customize them too - for example I keep the first person kill animations, disable the third person kill cams, and disable the archery ones but keep the magic ones.
Hopefully it further encourages gamers to STOP pre-ordering. If that happens, I’d genuinely consider this a service to gamers. I highly doubt it will though, nor do I think that’s the intention. The Youtuber fiasco kinda proves that.
Except that isn’t the reasoning at all. It’s certainly “cool and edgy” for commenters to pretend Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Oblivion are broken messes of video games, but they’re some of the highest reviewed games of all time. DOOM was the first game they adopted this policy for and it still reviewed incredibly well.
Possibly. They had a referendum on whether they should leave the UK a couple of years ago, but voted to remain on the basis that the UK was an EU member state, and they really valued EU membership. Now that the UK is leaving the EU, and Scotland voted largely to remain in the EU (but is so outnumbered by England it…
Completely agree. If they aren’t going to moderate, they need to disable it entirely. I tuned in for a big Dota2 International match a couple of years ago, looked at the chat, saw people typing Game of Thrones spoilers in ALL CAPS, and have never turned chat back on since.
It has to happen. And with the success of FFXIV and Destiny (the latter of which has heavily inspired Legion) I bet he can taste that console audience waiting for a next gen WoW game. It’ll be a good 5+ years away, but imagine the CG quality visuals they can bring to the table.
Yep, the CG trailer is amazing, but then you remember the story is wrapped in a poor quality MMO framework where you stare at your 4 hotbars hitting skills as they come off cooldown, performing fetch quest after fetch quest, and wondering why the game is tacitly asking you to ignore all the other players around you…
Pretty sure a lot of the other artwork on that leak turned out to be real though, mainly related to NPCs. None of them where known before the leak, and when some of the NPCs were confirmed it pretty much all but confirmed the third stage evolutions too.
So, we’d always been able to see through the mask just enough to work out she had a very human face, with very feminine features. The issue I had (though I don’t know about everyone else) is that over the course of three entire games I’d built up my own image of what she looked like, and loved that Bioware had created…
Might not be the best name, but that logo is pretty damn clever.
Completely agreed. It’s weird to see consoles aiming for 4k when they’ve only just achieved 1080p at long last and not even PCs are managing 4k outside of the bleeding edge.
It’s expensive, right? I think that’s why the base PS4 and Xbone sold so much better than the previous gen - no new TV required, and the new consoles would finally manage to hit native 1080p instead of sticking to 720p. The 360 and PS3 didn’t require a new TV, but definitely recommended it, so for most gamers it felt…
“The biggest thing that helps me is that there doesn’t seem to be much other than the new hero class, zones and storyline for people who want something new. I feel that I’ve played enough of all the classes so far and I know that this is going to be prime over-saturation time for Demon Hunters so it’s a little easy to…
They don’t have enough power to improve both framerate AND resolution. PS4 Pro uses the extra GPU power to boost resolution to a “fake” 4k (it isn’t quite powerful enough for true native 4k). Scorpio is boasting that is has enough power to render at a fully native 4k. There’s literally nothing left for boosting…
Destiny 2? I doubt it. The game will have to run on the standard PS4 and Xbox One as well, so the Pro and Scorpio’s extra power will likely only be spent on pushing the game to 4k.
Yeah, some older games were fantastic, even from Square. Vagrant Story and FF Tactics on the PSOne for example, but those were more the result of Matsuno than Square’s team at large. They gave him the reigns to FFXII but then forced him to change direction and create teenage waste-of-space characters like Vaan and…
