Yes; I'll have to agree with you on that. We could remember old Korean songs from the 1980s and 1990s but nowadays nothing sticks in the memories of today's generation because most of it is just re-hash of similar tunes.

Care to clarify? And K-pop is a really generic description of Korean music. Even legitimate singers from genres outside of pop get lumped into the category of "k-pop" in order to make it easier for foreigners to recognise; e.g. hip-hop.
