I know it is going to sound harsh, but if you are spending %80 of you income on housing and daycare you don’t make enough money to live where you live. You either need to ask for a raise or take a job in a new city/state where the amount of money you make is the same and the housing costs are WAY cheaper.

You make a few good points. Where you live makes a huge impact and making the correct financial choices on large $$$ purchases matters way more than on day to day spending. Its the big purchases done poorly that are the hardest to fix.
