Absolutely! As the character turns, you can blatantly see how the rain is just an effect on the screen and not a part of the environment. Ugly as heck.

The whole thing looks shitty.
That shot of the lake being hit by no rain, in spite of being surrounded by rain, was enough to kill my interest in this. I don’t give a shit about lack of fog, but this is just beyond lazy.
Acting like “aesthetic choice” and “hardware limitations” are two discrete things is silly. Aesthetic choices are made based on the hardware limitations and games are designed ground-up for them. Maybe if Rockstar started at square 1 on better tech they wouldn’t need fog. But the fog was an aesthetic choice based on…
This! While the limitations weren't welcome they designed the have around them. So many decisions had these limitations on mind. The original game might have been much better without them, but removing them from the completed game isn't the same as designing the game from the ground up without these limitations
This reminds me way too much of the debate over “remastering” SNES soundtracks after the original sound sources were found.
The thing is, San Andreas is made up of Los Santos (LA), San Fierro (San Francisco) and Las Venturas (Vegas) plus loads of outlying areas: the remote desert airport you eventually buy, the Back o’ Beyond rural area where you go into hiding early in the story, and a small community North of San Fierro. Plus, there’s…
yeah and the color grading they’ve done with this is so much flatter than it was back then, despite the character models being cartoony. just a series of baffling decisions.
the point they are trying to make is they look WORSE now. Doesn’t matter if the originals looks “crap” or not in your opinion
I saved myself a whole lot of rage then. I got the originals on Steam. I don’t need no definitive bullshit edition.
I believe the general notion is that this is a port of the 360 version that is, essentially, bifurcated and duct taped to Unreal Engine. Which would explain the glitches that appear from that version but not previous versions and some of the general graphics wonkiness and odd implementations of “improvements”.
Corporative wokeness is not the snake that bites it’s own tail. It GORGES on it. As long we keep asking that from consumer products, we will keep getting that kind of insult and demeanor. Let products be products, we need our action in a lot of other places of our society.
Google “youtube vanced” that app is amazing, same regular Youtube app but zero ads, and it even has an option that marks sections of videos where they are promoting Surfshark or whatever else is sponsoring the video, and there’s a little button that shows on screen that will allow you to jump to the end of the…
and now he’s dead, and you’re full of petty spite. clearly the man was quite emotionally tortured. he founded the website—even your absolutism can’t deny him credit for doing so.
Get Youtube Vanced, don’t have to worry about ads on mobile and it’s generally just better than the youtube app.
Ads are terrible on mobile.
im sure it was entirely to protect people and not at all influenced by large corporations getting indignant over people disliking their videos.
They’ve also added extra commercials. It just gets better and better.
Given the absolutely spectacular work done by the modding community these remasters aren’t really worth it.
I’ve been thinking about this since the ports were announced, and I’ve been dreading the possibility that it’s gonna be like this all over again. Definitely not pre-ordering, definitely not day-one purchasing, definitely waiting for videos and reviews. I still own the originals, so if they can’t improve on those…
