This mentality isn’t unheard of today, by any stretch. I had the distinct displeasure of moving to South Texas right about the time that their open container law was changed to make it illegal to have open booze in the car and you’d think the fucking locals had been informed they were all going to be dragged out and

Nah. He’s wunna them Inteye-lectual Eeeleets what keep trying to say I should get vaxinated or suffocate mah youngun’s with a mask what cuts off their oxygen.

So, I grew up on a family farm. An actual working farm in NW Oklahoma that belonged to my great-grandfather, then granddad now my dad. All 3 of us kids worked on the farm pretty much from day 1 and it was hard, hot work that often didn’t show even a hint of profit, though my parents both worked full-time jobs and gave

Please tell me you left a Jalopnik sticker on the window of the guard shack...

I get that brand/model nomenclature can be a bit esoteric, but “Husky Viking” really didn’t make the English translation cut.
Come on, it sounds like a chubby Norwegian, shirtless in a furry vest with horns on his helmet.
And we all know that’s the Harley Davison demographic.

Most of my “car related” apparel is stuff I wear when I’m working on my car (ie, torn and stained) but I do like this shirt I got from the guys of Mighty Car Mods, shipped all the way from Oz to muggy ol’ Texas:

Probably has a better thrust:mass ratio than a 70's Trans Am

Ya gotta paint a picture with words, man.

That’s it, I’m joining the nearest chapter of the Anarchist’s Union today!

When you put it that way it sounds like a jobs program for ex-strippers.
I picture a 35yr old bleached-blonde with leathery skin and a HD shield tramp stamp doing a 4square sheet across the desk from a young kid and his dad.

I live in South Texas and occasionally see Mexican-tagged Dacia Dusters (SUV/crossover thing) on I35. The nearest big outlet mall to the border is in San Marcos and they seem to be drawn there.

I once saw a RV with Texas plates driving in the Colorado mountains actually use a turn out to let traffic by.
It was like seeing a unicorn, ridden by a Sasquatch, crapping out a gold rainbow.

Exactly. I love NM and have lived and and traveled extensively there but the DUI issue is ridiculous. I think aside from cultural and societal issues which exacerbate the alcohol/drug problem the big issue in NM is that everything has to be a profit center.

I grew up on a farm about45 miles from Vance AFB which used to be (maybe still?) a training center for jets.  All summer long when we’d have new-ish jet jocks circling our farm in T38's.  We had one quarter that was the highest point in the county and had a single, easily spotted tree on top of it (it was used as a

My ground school instructor way back in high school (early 80's) was a former Marine fixed wing pilot who made his living crop-dusting. As part of emergency instructions he pointed out that we should always be aware of differences in the color of any open fields because in NW Oklahoma (wheat country) a dark field

I grew up in a small farm town, surrounded by other small farm towns. Had any of my peers done this every individual within a 100mile radius would have known all the specifics within 1 day.
Now, mind you, few of those “specifics” would have been correct but that kid would be known the pool boy from that day on.

The lead photo looks like it was taken prior to the arrival of the wrecker and it shows the car nose-first in the pool with the fence behind it smashed down. Looks to me like the occupant in the driver’s seat thought they put it in reverse but instead put it in drive. Poor throttle control followed by panicking put it

Them Duke boys is in trouble, now...

In Texas, I say “Make sure you know right-of-way so you will know what the drivers will do the exact opposite of.”
