Haven’t run a car dry, but as a kid I spent a lot of time driving tractors (family farm) and ran one of these dry several times due to a bad fuel gauge and being a kid that didn’t pay attention...

It looked to me like an electrical short.  Maybe the initial impact going over the median buckled the roofline a bit and it cut wiring to the cargo light?  Or possibly that was the high-mount brake-light and the guy was a bit slow on getting to the pedal?

That’s only valid if they don’t then cost as much as cars that aren’t simply designed and manufactured as-is for a decade. If you don’t want to improve the vehicle then fine, but why do they believe its worth the same as a vehicle that has multiple design iterations and updates in that same time frame?
