That’s my worry, applying vacuum to something that is meant to hold pressure might cause some issues. I’d think that it is most likely that any car which might be tricky to fill properly is vacuum filled at the factory and as such designed for it. Thinking on this more, I’d be perfectly happy if an airline implemented your idea along with making everyone unconscious during the flight. Let me sit down at the gate in my plane seat, put me under, then wake me when it is time to collect my baggage. 

From what I can tell, you pay thousands for first class, or you have no space. There isn’t much in between. Yes, there are some airlines which offer slightly more leg room for a slightly higher cost, but to my knowledge there are none with wider seats at a slightly higher cost.

I’d fly that airline.

Are those DIMES he’s using to measure the rotor thickness!? You’d be much better off with a couple of hex nuts. The faces on those are at least supposed to be flat and parallel, unlike a dime which is intentionally not flat and parallelism is completely uncontrolled.

If you have the money and a suitable candidate for scanning, yes. There’s an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage where they talk about doing this very thing for some parts for one of his cars.

I’d have to think that Ford did their homework on the wheel/tire size. Range anxiety has to be the single biggest obstacle to overcome with consumers. As such they’d be highly invested in eeking out every little bit of range they can. Wheels/tires and weight are the low hanging fruit.

Spiral flute taps are designed to eject chips upward rather than downward. They are however more fragile than other taps so great care is necessary in their manual use.  They’re also not commonly found outside of machining supply places. You won’t find one at Ace or Autozone.
