Legit question: typically when you arrive in a harbor or such, you take on a local captain familiar with the waters and local tugs. Does this happen in a Navy yard as well? If so, who is at fault? The USN captain, or the harbor master?

The yellow fibers are the Kevlar and are typically interwoven with the cf. Kevlar by itself doesn’t add much, if any, structural qualities, so the carbon caries the load there.

I met Roy Sullivan once while Mountain Biking outside of Bryson City, NC once. A storm was approaching and we were near a taller lookout over the lake. I didn’t hang around him long. Nice guy, but maybe a little aloof - but I would be too if struck 7 times .....
