Uhhh they don’t control the prices of a barrel of crude. Their story is a bit more complex as they are a vertically integrated super major, but they didn’t make oil go to $120/bbl. Remember, oil is traded globally. It wasn’t just the US that was paying high prices for oil after Russia invaded Ukraine. Tons of

It’s not insanity to defend a necessity.

this is one thing that annoys me a lot, if we are making EVs for the planet these should be engineered to be 100% circular life cycle if you can’t just repair/rebuild 99% of it’s components in order to keep it running for as much as possible then we are not doing any better than ICEs

I suspect that a lot of this has to do with the shops that traditional insurance companies deal with simply are not familiar with Teslas, don’t know how to deal with them and don’t want to deal with them.

A Cimmaron Plaid.

That is pretty much a leaf or bolt. But those aren’t sexy and profitable. Tons of unnecessary tech is sexy and profitable.

Whats wrong with a simple electric car? Like give me an electric Civic. Seriously.

That just means more parts for my Cadillac Cimarron EV conversion.

The seller didn’t list that, the site automatically does when DD reviews a car, it knows because he owns the site.

I would guess most of the ICE car fires are old cars with a lot of neglected maintenance. I have had multiple cars with over 200k miles and even more with over 150k miles and no fires because I take care of my cars. I drive my 270k mile Highlander every day and it has yet to catch fire.

Still an absurd amount but

Yeah I'll second that. I had my Kindle Fire (yes really) sitting on my metal table in my garage while doing some soldering. In a case, just playing some music. Suddenly it just goes up, and it burns FAST. I call Amazon after I dunked it into a 5 gallon of water and ask the customer service rep what happened. "oh that

I would guess the rate of EV fires will no doubt increase as the average age of EV’s on the road increases.

How long would such a fire last on its own? Could they just contain it and let it burn out on its own? Or would that take days? The water doesn’t seem like it really does a whole lot.

how long would it take to burn itself out?

‘Bout time to install that Demolition Man type foam system.

I know journalism is hard, but:

Did they try fighting the fire with fire?

FSD isn’t FSD until the car can drive itself into the closest pool when on fire.
