Are your nails absolutely clean of oils before you apply the base coat? As in freshly washed and dried? Some people do use alcohol or pure acetone although that should not be necessary if you've just washed your hands with soap.

Nothing will stay on the mucous membrane that is waterline for 8 hours. You either reapply as often as you need to or don't use anything there and deal with not having quite so awesome evil, intense eyes.

Forget about that Benetint shite, it sucks and doesn't do anything well. Just go with good old powder or cream, apply carefully, all the while blending like the dickens.
