Tesla already did share their drivetrain with another automaker: The RAV4 EV used a Tesla battery pack and power train in the last-gen body style, but was California-only compliance car.

Sure, let’s have another East-West automotive partnership! Renault-Nissan/Mitsubishi seems to be going so great right now.
This times a million. All that delicious torque, served up the instant you put your foot down. My Leaf feels quick with 110 hp and 210 lb/ft of torque - imagine how quick this thing will be with 200 and 291. I just hope they put some tires on it that can keep up, otherwise it’s going to be like the Bolt - put your…
This right here is the game changer. If they can actually pull this off and keep the prices reasonable, this could potentially outsell the gas version... If you’ve ever driven an electric car, you’ll know that just “200" hp is a lot more fun than in a gas car.
Older drivers absolutely love them. They’re easy to get in/out of, easy to maneuver, and get reasonable fuel economy.
I still stand by my theory that as EV cars are released with small or absent grilles, that ICE cars must increase the size of their grilles in order to maintain equilibrium and balance in the universe
Looks funky but not ugly. Damn, the electric Soul should be a hoot to drive!
Fuck yeah. The last time I was this excited about a new model release was the Chrysler Pacifica. Which only slightly disappointed when I finally drove my dad’s (our 2011 T&C is still chugging along just fine).
This. Ryan’s “everyone” isn’t everyone, because there were and are many, many people who weren’t naysayers. Dividing the world into Tesla haters and fanbois is childish.
Building a car is hard. Building a car company is damn near impossible. Musk is a lot of things but you have to hand it to him for succeeded to this point in spite of the challenge. They aren’t remotely out of the woods (who is?) but you can’t deny he’s done something that hasn’t been done in a long time - created…
Why should US market be buying CNG cars? CNG cars may be cheaper upfront, but they are much more expensive to maintain than even gas cars. You can refill a CNG car at home, but it’ll take forever due to limits on residential compressors.
Even with less efficient sodium sulfate batteries (19.2kWh worth), the E1's range and charge capabilities outshine even that of BMW’s current EV city car i3.
David, I think your words and your behavior are at odds with each other.
Its for the 370 leaving us ALL dead, on the inside.
Yeah, sure, he could end world hunger. Because “logistics” doesn’t exist. Because government corruption and warlords and shit don’t exist in nations with hungry populations. A billion dollars can be turned into food placed in front of every hungry person in the world just by snapping some fingers. Poof! No more world…
I hate headlines like this. I hate stories like this.
My family sedan has a manual transmission.
James May saw this coming years ago: “who gives a pig’s arse about the diesel stuff... the important question is, is it a proper Jag?”
What’s squeezing Toyota, and every car manufacturer in the US, really, is pretty straightforward. Your average adult under 40 is still paying off student loans, has been dealing with flat wages for almost their entire working career, and is worried about the environment. Buying new probably isn’t even on their radar,…
Didnt realize SUVs were putting a dent in Camrys. Figured it was always parking barriers and such.
