As my middle school health teacher said, “The only way you’re going to catch anything from sitting on the toilet is if the other person is still there.”

While watching Colbert last night with Scaramucci, all I could think was that some of these journalists could learn a thing or two about how to grill someone in an interview. The average cable TV anchor and Sunday show host just don’t have the fight in them.
It really is amazing how a guy who was essentially just Tina Fey’s sidekick for much of his career came into his own in quasi Jon Stewart fashion.
Thank you and I am right with you on everything, most notably the keeping sane part, but also adding John Oliver to my sanity preservation team.
I start my morning with Rachel Maddow many deep sighs and THEN move on to Colbert and Oliver.
Vice has a very good on the ground piece. They were there to document the rally from the beginning and got access and interviews with one of the leading pieces of shit.
You’re not alone. That’s why how these guys handle this is critical for me and a lot of other Americans who desperately need someone to speak truth to power.
He was ON FIRE this week. I was literally clapping at points.
It’s absolutely fair to say that when the one coming up short was an active participant in normalizing Trump and is still giving weak statements today. If Fallon wanted to stay out of politics, he would stay out of politics. He doesn’t get to have candidates on his show, goof around with maniacs who have built their…
Totally agree. I just can’t watch the news anymore unless it’s delievered through comedy. Colbert and Meyers and Oliver are doing a great job making me not want to jump off a bridge when I hear the word “Trump”.
I watch Meyers’s monologue and “A Closer Look” every night, along with Colbert’s monologue/opening segment. Between the two of them, they are keeping me somewhat sane. Meyers really did an extraordinary job with this segment, though - above and beyond the usual. His insight is piercing, the writing sharp, the…
True, yes, but I think it’s also been done in very specific ways to very specific ends... think of how Arya appeared in the previous episode when she arrived back at Winterfell. Her outfit wasn’t only about practicality— she was a DEAD RINGER for her father. She wore her hair in the same style, had the same jerkin...…
Good point, and plays out in reverse, as well— Brienne is valued for her physical skill and loyalty and thus shows herself to be an extremely competent asset/ally. Same with Missandei— when given freedom from slavery and provided with personal agency, she becomes an indispensable councilor.
The whole “burning up a dude and his son because they won’t bend a knee” is probably not going to sit well with Jon either. Considering thats what her father did to his uncle/grandfather*.
Except that time Jon hung a teenage kid?
ALL the female characters wear armour-inspired clothing this season though. Look at Sansa and Arya! Westeros is at war now, women are finally allowed to take part in what is going on, and the clothing reflects that.
Cool! I can get a cape for my cosplay, and a new Kallax shelf at the same time!
Omg... never bought it but coveted it.
