What sucks about this article is that I have never met a polyamorous/polyfidelitous person in real life who would ever say that monogamy is "wrong." Wrong for them, perhaps, but not wrong universally. (Extra-judgey people tend not to last long in poly relationships. kinda counterproductive) Being a poly person

Amen

Cool topic. Reading through here it is kinda interesting to see how many different ways people understand "remembering." Is person, place, and thing sufficient enough to count as remembered? Do you have to remember the date? The time? What if you remember every tiny detail of the experience, the sensory data of it

"And after, you are left mutilated, without hair, changes to the skin and weight gain. It can be very difficult. The survivor culture helps women. "

Changing names can be part of owning identity though.

NJ should just read "TRAFFIC" because if it is not dickhead drivers on the parkway it is deer in the pinelands.

(although I am slightly ashamed to admit that my knowledge of non-hetero sex was sadly misinformed and based mostly on Harry/Draco fanfiction until I was 17)

I am with you on the language. I don't have small labia, but it does seem incredibly dismissive and hypocritical to spend most of the article criticizing the aesthetics of small labia but the end by saying that the perfect vagina "looks exactly like yours."

Agreed

I don't understand the "ew" reaction this seems to get. Labor sucks (or so it appears) and if you can think of something to make it a little less sucktastic I say go for it. A little clit rub, unlike many drugs, would seems to have few negative side-effects (other than people getting squicked out on ze interwebs)

I've said it elsewhere in these discussion threads on this post, but yes. The real problem with these gatherings is the kind of blind privilege inherent in spiritual tourism. I wish the article had talked about that rather than just being pointlessly dismissive.

If you have an issue with spiritual tourism and its impact on indigenous communities (which is a problem that I do see with this particular gatherings) then you have a absolute leg to stand on when criticizing these gatherings. An article that looks at what festivals like this do and do not do to deal with those

You have met every last one of these people, and every single one of them is an entitled narcissist? Wow, you are a social butterfly!

Since when does the media ever report (fairly... honestly...or at all) about grassroots cultural and political movements?

Why so grumpy? The hippie ravers didn't share their molly with the media?

Why not? I mean this question sincerely and would like to understand your logic.

If someone is trying to argue that the 9/11 hijacked planes were holograms designed by evil reptilian overloads, then your comment might be justified.

Amen. You can still love a person deeply, be committed to that person, and still want to bang and/or form a loving relationship with other human beings. Just ask anybody in a successful relationship modeled on consensual nonmonogamy, polyamory, polyfidelity, etc. (Of course, you can cheat in a poly relationship...

Everything is amazing, nobody's happy, and dammit the truth hurts sometimes. Louis is just too honest with us, and no one gives their shrink the "cool" award even if they make us laugh.
