I think this is the right take, even as someone who quite likes Starfield. It’s a good game, but it’s not an outstanding game, and GOTY really should be for the latter.

Hahaha I just installed it in VR (Skyrim) because I bought the quest 3 and I’m hooked AGAIN. So yeah I get you.

I installed Skyrim over the weekend, saw it was on Gamepass thought ah well screw it. Installed some graphic mods, started playing..... And I lost 3 hours! LOL

Starfield honestly lacked the charm of skyrim or fallout. I think it was mainly an issue in how you traveled. It was all insta-teleport which removed most of the exploration wonder that it could have been.

Didn’t mind the new suit, except the new shoes. Just seems a lil.... product-placement-y. But I’m not a part of sneaker culture, so I figured it’s probably going over well for those who are — and if so, cool.

As someone who’s actually played it instead of making assumptions, it’s actually surprisingly restrained with the microtransaction side of things, and it’s perfectly possible to play the game and its large selection of quests without any timers, DLC or anything like that. It’s so laid-back with it that I was worried…

I only made it three regions into Valhalla and, while I don’t begrudge the fact Ubisoft made this wide world that some of its players could explore, I really wished it had offered a straightforward route through the story content and major landmarks.

To this day I still don’t quite understand why people think buying the odd studio and the odd bit of exclusivity is the same thing as buying one of the worlds leading publishers that contains 10s of studios and one of the biggest media properties within it.

More likely that Aspyr got a feel for the franchise working on the ports and was chosen to try their hand at the remake due in part to that

Took me a while to pull the trigger because of those exact reasons but when I did it was a super pleasant surprise.   Definitely scratched the itch between BotW and TotK.
