Okay... needlessly insulting reply to a post from over two months ago? Sure, I'll play, why not. Here's what I meant:

Just FYI, ambivalence means having two strong but conflicting emotions or opinions. Not trying to be a jerk at all, I just like to spread the knowledge about this word because it's such a cool one. Based on the rest of your post I think maybe what you mean is more like extreme indifference.

My biggest one is kind of a weird one. It's not that it's extra annoying, it's just that it's SO ubiquitous: "if I would have done..." instead of "if I had done." The would part comes AFTER the condition, not before.

Yes, also: "I wear these shoes everyday." No, they are your everyday shoes, but you wear them every day.

I just sent them an email asking to delete my membership. Switching to apracticalwedding.com!

How horrible! My visceral reaction to that is similar to if I saw a picture of a baby smoking.

Yes. Exactly. All the comments I've seen have said pretty much exactly that. Agreeing about these being totally inappropriate toys for little girls, but taking issue with the "prostitute" comment. I guess I just don't understand who you're arguing with.

And I'm not saying it is. I don't think anyone is saying it was wrong to criticize the doll (I hate the doll too), people are only taking issue with her choice of words. What I'm responding to is your point that "Polly Pocket has no feelings." No one on here is coming from a position about caring about the doll's

Exactly, it doesn't sound like the question they were asked was, "do you personally experience this." I don't think believe my pay is suffering because I'm a woman, but if you asked me if there was a gap in general I would still say yes. Because there is. It sounds like this article is talking about two different

You're missing the point. It's like saying, "you don't have to get upset if someone calls a toy gay because they don't like it. It's a TOY, it doesn't have feelings." The harm done is not to the doll, it's to the actual people who are being used as an insult.

Oh dear lord.

No because we don't have it pinned down yet. Now I'll know not to even when we have it, thanks for the warning!

Haha. My god I've made a horrible mistake, haven't I? I guess it will be a good test of my unsubscribing/filtering/blocking skills.

I agree with the rest of your points, but saying "in the U.S., water isn't free" seems kind of disingenuous to me. I mean yes, technically turning on the sink to fill a cup will add a couple of cents to your water bill, but that cost is SO much lower than buying soda or whatever that for comparison purposes it is

Yes, it has begun, I am paying for my mistake.

Yep, same here. I just got engaged last week actually, I signed up for the knot thinking I'd take advantage of their checklist and planning tools, and one of the first things on the checklist was "start thinking about your colors!" Um no. We're looking at reception spaces that have their own funky charm and need no

I'm at work and struggling hard not to laugh at this. Holy crap this just cracks me up. +1

Wow, that is a VERY even split. Pretty interesting.

Anti-panties.

Broadly speaking, "affect" is a verb and "effect" is a noun. As for how to remember which is which, think of common phrases like "cause and effect" (noun) or "that story really affected me" (verb).
