the downside there is that it would be used as a wedge to undermine pensions for other municipal employees more widely. the right would *love* to be able to renege on deal agreed to long ago to provide public employees with retirement benefits, and anything that allows for raiding pension funds is an opening for them…

nobody actually needs to eat animals at this point, so (a) i don’t see how choosing to use dead animal carcasses for fashion is worse than choosing to use them for food, and (b) i don’t think anyone who does choose to eat dead animals has any standing to criticize someone else for wearing fur.
