No worries! The way I think of it is that the past tense verb is wrong because it implies a completed process: person was male, now female (or vice versa), which really doesn't reflect the experience at all. Anyhow, thanks for listening!

Congratulations and best of luck!

I think we all have to draw our own lines when it comes to liking problematic things. For me, it's important to be aware of the artist's flaws and NEVER try to defend someone on the basis of how much I like their work.

THANK YOU! A lot of people think of fake fur and fake leather as consequence-free, when in fact they are damaging to the environment (and as a result, to animals). I definitely agree that folks should consider both sides before making a decision, and recognize that their choices are damaging either way.

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. Whoa.

I usually like it as well; it's just been a long weekend. Anyhow, best of luck!

Sorry, no help here; only commiseration. I'm really sick of programming.

Oh man, when I first started Zoloft, my friend was all, "but won't your sex life be worse?" My response was, "maybe if I'm medicated I'll finally be able to HAVE one." Something is better than nothing, for me.

Anyone have any other success stories? Zoloft didn't work out for me, and after some poor anxiety-influenced choices this weekend, I'm thinking about trying meds again.

Ooh, I haven't seen that yet. Maybe I'll check it out, thanks!

This anecdote may be really unhelpful, but I went through a similar stage about a year ago. After a while, I had to limit the amount of time I spent alone in my apartment. I started spending A LOT of time at the public library, and ended up making friends with a few of the librarians. I was still pretty depressed,

I can't speak for other schools, but my university has a writing center where you can get help on any writing- papers, applications, essays, etc. If you're thinking about a specific school, I would definitely contact disability services and see what they can do for you.

I'm really sorry. I'm glad that you're enjoying your time with your cat, and I hope that you can find a way to get through everything that's going on. I wish there was more I could say.

Yesterday brought a resurgence of test anxiety and some other bad news. I barely managed to answer two of the eight questions on my exam. I also got rejections from two summer internships and three scholarships. I now have nothing lined up for summer and it looks like I won't be able to study abroad next year.

In most cities, police operate on a varied response time. There are a few crimes to which they respond immediately: assault, armed robbery, etc. As for the rest, police showing up within a broader time interval is normal, acceptable, and usually makes no difference in terms of resolving the issue. As a math and physics major, I've noticed this trend as well. I think a contributing factor to the high-performance aspect is pressure: it's pretty easy to get ignored or written off when you're a girl in STEM. The best way to fight that is to be really good. For me, being an 'average' woman in physics is way

See, and that's why it's so fucked up to put your trust in some higher being. You don't want the position and know you'll be bad at it? SAY NO.

I had no idea that there even WAS a stereotype of gendered-vinyl. Jesus Christ, that's the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

Seriously. I just learned about Shirley Chisholm a few weeks ago *shame*
