That was an editorial fuck up on my end and I totally missed it. I’ve reuploaded the episode and am deeply sorry about including it.

Seriously. Harassment isn’t the answer but the initial announcement of the EGS exclusivity was soooo bad. So bad that just reading it, I knew they were about to get pummeled worse than the other EGS exclusives.
It is possible to disapprove of Epic’s exclusivity practices—and to be disappointed that a game you’ve been looking forward to has become an EGS exclusive (almost certainly for a period of no more than a year)—without resorting to shitting all over devs who decide to take the deal.
This is especially true of faking…
No mention of this?
Schreier, I will always appreciate your deep-dives into the less glamorous sides of this hobby and the industry that supports it. While most of Kotaku’s articles are (and probably should be) focused on the games themselves, it’s incredibly important that we never lose sight of the human cost incurred in the production…
I gave you a star but know that I hate you for it.
then rest his or her chest and body down on the padded longitudinal bench-like assembly
But only when I fall asleep playing.
D2 was a mistake
Seriously fuck PvP and it’s balance issues! it has massively ruined destiny 1 and 2! I don’t see what’s so hard about balancing PvP and PvE separately like most other games do
Probably has something to do with the fact that they turned a $60 game into a $140 one with 3 expansions. Who fuckin thought that would work again?
Let’s also not forget that Ubisoft has previously gone and tweaked microtransactions in the past for the worse, introducing lootboxes in Wildlands and Siege.
This is already what happens when it’s taken too far. People hate the XP boosts in Odyssey because they’ve seen them done in other (usually f2p) games that are built in a way that pushes you into buying XP boosts or spend 20 hour grinding every time you get stuck. (Which is every time you attempt something new past…
Imagine the recent God of War, that I think everyone agrees had great pacing regarding loot, had you aqcuiring hacksilver, materials, XP etc at a ten times slower rate, and that everytime you went to the Dwarves stores, the game reminded you that you could buy a “loot booster” for real money.
“It’s hard for me to resent a giant, publicly traded corporation for wanting to make more money.”
But shouldn’t you? If we’re reducing this to simple economics shouldn’t we, as consumers, want as much as possible for as little as possible and begrudge them every penny? It seems fair that if we are going to excuse…
I’m sure they’ll get to it right after they give an update on what to expect from Fallout 76, which is releasing in about a month.
They didn’t sell like hotcakes. That’s kind of the problem.
“I once tracked down the author of this guide, Dan Birlew, and asked him how all this happened. He wouldn’t say. (“I do not comment on books/games that old. Please direct your queries to BradyGames.”
