What I came away from it was a hint about fate... he started by talking about the gods and their justice being demonstrated by a fight to the death between two people, and ended with a suggestion that the gods are basically just crushing beetles (by which he means, human beings) and we will never know why; we just…
How terrible! I hope you're doing okay.
You're probably looking for TV series, but a comic series is the one that comes to mind for me. This was nihilistic to the core: we tend to put our hope in humanity based on our intelligence, but in The Watchmen, brains are ultimately just another kind of brawn, best used in asserting your dominance.
I can think of lots in Doctor Who. Yep, just in the bit shown in that screenshot - where's Turkey? And also, New Zealand is in the mid Atlantic.
The Affront from the culture novel "Excession" were pretty appalling. One character describes life in their society as "a never ending, self perpetuating holocaust of pain and misery."
Welp, let's see. You reap the benefits of GPS, right?
