I believe so :)
I believe so :)
Excellent process of elimination.
I worked mostly with freshman who were still redshirts and generally had pretty big egos. Several of them expressed their annoyance with having to take classes at all because they were convinced they would get drafted into the NFL and get rich right after graduating. It would be interesting to see if they feel that…
Haha, okay.
I understand the point you're making, and I do think it's valid, but having worked as a tutor for football players at a comparable school in NC, I can tell you that it's very common for players to sign up for African American studies courses, regardless of the race of the player, because their advisors have told them…
Here's a picture of the UNC 2013 football team. Do you see only African American players?
Yes, are you?
It looks like UNC has a course that is AFAM 041 that was changed to AFAM 102, so it wouldn't be a senior level course.
Why do you assume that the football player in question is African American?
I used to tutor student athletes at a nearby school in North Carolina and I'd have to say this looks about right. It was a depressing, underpaid job that expected us to work miracles with these athletes who likely wouldn't have gotten into college on grades alone.
For the puberty discussion, check out the American Girl series, The Care and Keeping of You. These are wonderful books that helped me many years ago with all the questions I was too embarrassed to ask. I think they have several different books in this series now.
Yeah, Spaniards are people from Spain, but it's generally not called Spaniard Spanish. When you refer to the dialects of Spanish in Spain, the generally accepted term in linguistics is Peninsular Spanish.
And I think that's great!
I think those are very important points you make. My comment was mainly responding to the idea that we shouldn't care/feel strongly about the right for woman to remain in society while they're menstruating because it's a tradition, which is where I think cultural relativism comes into play. But I really do like your…
It could be my BC placebo week talking, but man that made me wanna cry.
I have to disagree with you. Cultural relativism is a fallacy- when there is a situation of this magnitude that has a negative impact on most women in a given culture, why do you argue for the continuation of this tradition, just because it belongs to another part of the world? Not all traditions are good or should be…
She definitely did have a show on Nick. I think it involved being at a boarding school or something, and I remember a sushi restaurant taking place in it somehow.
AND The Babysitters Club!
You can use "Peninsular Spanish" for Spanish from Spain to avoid sounding silly!
Papi does mean daddy in Spanish, and it's a pretty common name to call a boyfriend/husband (although that doesn't make it less creepy).
