I've wanted something like this.

Black Glass! That's how a Winamp successor should look! I like that one.

No, but I can't say that I haven't thought of doing that... :-)

it's not so much "run out of memory", but more of not enough memory to keep things flowing buttery smooth despite having the system reaching 90% on all cores under heavy loads. Glad 4GB is still making your system work, but yes, adding another 2-4 GB would allow it to breathe a little easier.

The main advantage of RAM is allowing you to work on more things simultaneously as well as allowing the OS to keep more things in memory so you can access they easily as opposed to when they're written to disk. If you're a hardcore multitasker, maxing out your RAM is still the way to go IMO.

I will NEVER GIVE IN!
I will NOT end up there!!
I'll fight til I win!!!
And I'll not CHROME my hair!!!!!

I WANT to adopt that third, slumped sitting posture at my work desk—my hips hurt all the time, and I never had that problem at my other station, where I could sprawl right out.

Firefox is more secure. Being in IT, that's what I really care about.

Where've you been? Mozilla fixed the memory leak issues a few iterations ago. That's very old news.

I tend to have lots of tabs open, and leave them open. I went from Firefox to Chrome, and now back to Firefox. The reason? Chrome eats up far more memory for the same amount of tabs than Firefox. Also, Firefox would always recover the previous session if it crashes; Chrome on the other hand, has failed multiples times.

You'll have to pry my highlighters from my cold dead hands...

It's funny that all the VLC users came out of the woodwork after the call for contenders. It wasn't even nominated. Not once. Mentioned once, but not nominated. Same thing happened the last time we did this same poll. As soon as the five itself went up though: "What?! No VLC?" Nominate it next time! :)

Vote: AIMP3

Ghostery!

AIMP3. Try it, love it, use it. Been using Winamp for a long time, then tried AIMP. Never looked back. And it`s free !
