@Dan Butcher: I don't know about that specific phone, but when I got my nexus one from eBay, I used it for a few days in exactly the way you describe on my wifi network before I got the sim card and data plan set up, so I'm pretty sure it will work.

@y0urm0msname: how tech-savvy are they? I have relatives who love the content of Netflix but can't give up the nice fullscreen tv interface of cable. A nice interface and remote which roku or apple tv bring could make a huge difference.

Every time I turn on my computer lately it says that one of the disks "needs to be checked for consistency." I've been cancelling the check on each startup, but does anybody here have any insight as to whether this check is actually important?

@RockstarLlama: Even worse, the movie ended up pretty different from his original screenplay, so that movie was already a re-imagining of his work.

This is one of the saddest stories I have ever laughed at. And of course, it's because of Joss Whedon.

Yes, it's exactly like Batman. Finally, somebody is going to get back to the serious, gritty roots of this beloved character after so many horrible film adaptations which completely missed the mark.

@Mutant: sorry, ignore this comment

I'd try this, but currently my lifehacker thumbnail is pretty awesome, I don't really want it to update.

Pretty cool, although with the keyboard up, there isn't a whole lot of screen space for results to show up on.

Sorry, but, this isn't gizmodo. Headlines on lifehacker are supposed to give a clear idea of what useful software or advice is being described in the article, not making outlandish opinionated claims to get people to click on the article. This is why this is my favorite website.

@verspasian: Agreed, I've tried a few android rss apps, but none of them were good enough to justify having to sync all the time. I just put a bookmark to the google reader site on my homescreen.

There's also plans for being cremated prematurely.

People who use an mp3 as your alarm: How do you find a balance between something so good (like a song you like) that you just let it keep playing, and something so annoying (like some horrible sound effect) that you wake up angry?

I love this site: name an activity, and they have done a cool, cheap, efficient, and/or DIY version of it.

Pretty cool, but is anyone else bugged by the slight delay in going to the homescreen?

No you fools! The ghosts are cybermen! Jesus is a Dalek! Earth is doomed if we're ever invaded.

The Playstation blog updated - changed it from 1080i to 1080p

Awesome, this works much better than the half-assed chrome extension I had been using to get full RSS feeds, thanks lifehacker!
