AAPL got to where it is now by having first mover advantage in consumer (as opposed to enterprise) smartphones and tablets. It integrated a lot of technologies (capacitive touch screens, muli-input UI, modern smartphone OS) into a well executed package 2 years before anyone else did. That gave it a huge head start and

Point of contention, cellphones are not a privilege. You PAY for the right to use it. You pay your entry fee, you get to use it. Your rights are protected by contract law.

That was bad and you should feel bad.

Except...Obama does talk about his Christianity. He just doesn't use it as a bludgeon to claim a higher moral authority. When someone DOES pull that stunt (looks at Rick Santorum), it's really a way of preemptively deflecting criticism (you're question GOD'S LAW!) while appearing holier-than-thou.

I think you're mistaking tactics for strategy. They want to stop abortions, then hormonal birth control, then condoms. That, in theory, removes all the incentives for "sinful"premarital sex, and saves the souls of the heathens by restoring "traditional good morals". Some are just ambitious and want to take on Stages 1

Thanks. I'm not in the Canon camp, so I'm unfamiliar with their lenses. For as much as Canon charges for their pro lenses, I just assumed they'd toss in IS.

"The right to elect one's public representatives is the foundation upon which our democracy is built."

Yeah, it gets a bit more difficult when you're looking at a vertically integrated company like Apple, but its margin is still atypical for a consumer discretionary product company. PCs have something like 5% margin. Walmart and Amazon get by on 2% margins via large volume.

Given that it was a 24-70mm lens, and given modern image stabilization, I wouldn't say that 1/40 hand held is "really tough in perfect conditions". Maybe a little difficult if he was at the long end of the range (the ol' 1 over focal length rule can be pushed a bit, but usually not to half of f), but still doable

Too bad? She died on Twitter. I can think of no worse fate.

Not sure if trolling or stupid. Hoping for trolling.

To play the devil's advocate, though, Bos-Wash freaks out when there's a windstorm, a snowstorm with more than 3", heat waves, heavy rains, OR earthquakes. And everyone else in the country that's not so squishy has to hear them freak out about it, then congratulate themselves when they do what everyone else does when

"1. It's dumb that white people demand an apology when a black guy says "nigga.""

I understand that. It doesn't change a thing I said though. They went with a less stable design in order to...I guess...make it look better superficially.

Photo-taking with a tablet: all the weight and bulky inconvenience of a DSLR but without the ergonomics and with the photo quality of a mid-range phone from last year.

It's not all aesthetics, the legs/feet on that case are horrible. Why the hell do they angle out instead of lying flat? BAD design.

The whiners are always a minority, but are so vocal they seem like the majority. Best to ignore any knee jerk "reviews" from the fanbois without any vision or flexibility.

Civ 4 was much better than Civ 3, which in turn was better than Civ 2. Civ 5 brought some good concepts, like the hex tiles and non-stacking units, but was otherwise a tedious and boring game with godawful AI.
