For over half a century the mid-engine ‘vette was the stuff of whispers, misplaced hopes and a concept here and there. It was one of the biggest automotive myths out there. And now it’s a reality. If anything the coverage is pretty conservative.

I was about to say. This is entry level in about the same way the 570S is the “entry level” Mclaren.
The Supra got resurrected, the half-century myth that is the Mid-engined ‘vette came to be, the Camry now has nearly 400 HP, GT1 is more or less returning, and some unknowns called Rivian are making an electric Truck/SUV with performance numbers rivaling sports cars of today and are seemingly NOT full of shit.
It’d be awesome if Lambo took a note from Porsche and actually went somewhere with their concepts. This thing’s too good to be relegated to not actually existing.
You wouldn’t have a choice otherwise.
That first image looks straight-up like a screencap from GTA V.
I was referring to how the 22B was made in commemoration of it’s WRC victory. The F1 LM came to be in the same way, just instead for the F1 GTR’s massive win at the ‘95 Le Mans.
I thought so. Pretty much Subaru’s interpretation of the Mclaren F1 LM.
This thing is basically the full-on race version of the 22B, right?
Never thought a damned Jalopnik comment would make me feel nostalgic, but here we are.
Funny to think once upon a time the Prius didn’t offend the eyes like it does today.
Porsche has a pretty decent record of not mutilating their concepts for production. 918, Panamera Sport Turismo, Taycan...
Who knows what the DLC episodes for Cyberpunk 2077 will bring?
Waitaminute, the exhaust is what gives F1 cars that sound? I thought it was the RPMs the engines run at.
Thing is there will *eventually* be a production version that’ll do what Bugatti’s advertising. A run should like, immediately be done with it but it’ll still be a production car all done by the manufacturer. That Ford GT is a long-dead car modded by a third party. I wouldn’t call it much a comparison.
I’m not entirely on board with this thing either and am patiently waiting/hoping for Koenigsegg to slap Bugatti down, but you sorta answered your own question when you said “modified Ford GT”.
My parents wanted me to be a doctor, but I didn’t listen to them because I just knew I’d end up having to stick my finger up some guy’s Eunos.
I mean neat but what exactly is THIS specific Chiron? A dev prototype or just a modded example? Either way this doesn’t seem like it grabs the “official” record what with not being a production model.
I have nothing to contribute other that I read “V-Sport” as “V-Spot” at first and now I think I hate myself.
