Have you seen the cost of SLS/Orion? It is 10X the projected cost of Falcon Heavy and Dragon 2. Government does have lots of money, but they are wasting it. They could do 10x the number of missions for the same amount of money if they hired SpaceX or one of the other “New Space” companies to do it.

I am not a fan of the government leading what is happening in space. I think that we need to keep government out of space as much as possible and leave it to the companies that can really make a difference. The problem with that plant is the culture of Detroit Auto Plants. I work in these plants on a daily basis, supplying automation equipment. The money that these people literally waste is mind boggling.
