I was recently at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant, where they currently make a few versions of the Focus. The word on the floor there is that when the Focus moves to Mexico next year, they are going to be making the Ranger and Bronco.
I might actually be interested in a Ford vehicle again...

If Ford built a vehicle that could actually off-road and named it a Bronco, it would surely eat into the market share of the Wrangler. They used to have the Bronco II then they put out a cool upgrade called an Explorer. Then they turned it into a minivan with 4” of ground clearance... and it still barely sells.
I don’t know that your assessment is accurate anymore. With the guided projectiles we have available to us now, GPS targeting and guidance, and soon, rail gun technology, Guns will be MUCH more effective and cheaper than cruise missiles.
