I find the whole premise of this argument flawed. Streaming a song is not draining the planet's resources. The idea that simply using the internet has the same environmental impact as fabricating, recording, and SHIPPING a CD sounds like some evironmentalist wacko's wet dream of a doomsday event.

Actually you would be surprised how much you can tell from a model. Things like basic stability, effects of transitioning on stability, basic center of gravity, how much power is required to maintain speed, pretty much everything except the supersonic capabilities.

Building a test model for this thing would be very easy. The tricky thing is obviously the transition. what happens with the passengers?

The article i read over on Gizmag (from monday) said that the $100k is for building a model for Wind Tunnel and Configuration Testing. I bet that can be done with that amount of money.

This patent thing is just getting out of hand. How many ways can you make a smart phone? How many ways can you make an operating system that controls a computer/phone and make it so apps work on them?
