I think time will show the hype is larger than the actual issue. Yeah, they'll catch some grief, people will bitch. But is this the Apple Apocalypse? Far from it.

@G_BOY185: I'd like to hear the actual number of complaints and/or returns they've had of the iPhone 4. If it's a 1% type thing, yeah, give away a bumper or something.. if you get into a 10%+ problem, then what we have is a faulty piece of hardware that should be fixed and not band-aided.

Was able to show my son the difference by playing some Eric Clapton for him first on some ear-buds, then some mid-list headphone/mic set I own for conferencing, and then.. the AKG K240DFs. Yeah, there's a world of difference.
