I’m rather fond of this stuff:

Second Cup is better than Tim’s, anyway!

Maybe the original author never actually had a wife.

I like almost any version of guacamole (especially the ones with lots of finely chopped onion and garlic), but to me nothing beats plain sliced avocado with a squirt of lemon or lime juice, salt, and pepper.

That’s really dreadful. Lots and lots of people should be fired over this.

I have a hard time coping with FB drama, even if it’s heartfelt and not at all forced; it’s sometimes hard to tell the true tone of that kind of post. I kept my own posts off-topic during the last few weeks of my mother’s life, when she was clearly terminally ill. The posts weren’t exactly cheerful, but they were

That’s how I read it as well. When someone close to you dies, your emotions go up and down a lot; one minute you’re crying, and the next, you’re joking with your assembled relatives. And you can’t always predict which will occur at any given moment. It’s happened to me, and it’s happened to some of the most sensitive

If it had been frozen all that time, it shouldn’t have spoiled. Turned into a disgusting pile of freezer-burned cardboard, yes, but not obviously decomposing. Besides using expired food, they must have serious sanitation problems in that kitchen. I wouldn’t trust even fresh food under those circumstances.

There is a sizeable specialty medical conference about to start in that hotel right now (the venue and dates were literally chosen years ago). A family member of mine is in attendance and has texted a few similar photos. Good times.

Thanks! The lack of dealer accountability or legal recourse is an obvious conclusion once described, but it’s not even alluded to in the original article.

This is more of an application issue than an interview issue, but I absolutely hate being asked for either my desired salary or my salary history. I just can’t stand that game. If you don’t want to waste time interviewing someone who expects more than you’re prepared to pay, why not just post a salary range in the job

Actually, one of the best jobs I ever had came out of a situation like this. The organization had needs A, B, C, and D. They wanted to hire two people; one to do A and B, and the other to do C and D. I applied for the A+B job and had a great interview with them. They decided that instead of A+B, they’d like to hire me

What did those poor tarantulas ever do to deserve this?

That’s what I was thinking. I used to get those big “functional” cysts, which should really be called dysfunctional cysts; they fill up with fluid due to ovulatory misfires and can become quite painful. I also had an actual ovarian tumor (benign) that had to be surgically removed, but I was able to hang onto the ovary

You might want to check out HysterSisters. I haven’t been to their site for some years, and AFAIK it’s gotten more ad-riddled over the years, but they were a good support group when I went through the same thing in 2003. I didn’t have much choice regarding my ovaries because the endo had pretty much destroyed them,

Oddly, I’ve never found anything offensive about Subway. And I usually get the tuna because tuna is my favorite sandwich. But a few observations:

The way I read it, she was over her flu and finally feeling hungry again, but just looked worn out because she’d been really sick for a few days beforehand.

Dang. I love beets, either plain or pickled. Love them in soups and salads, love them with cottage cheese (in fact, pickled beets are the only thing that has ever made me like cottage cheese), and after a trip to Australia a few years back, I now love them on hamburgers.

I would think that a public figure in Australia would be fully aware that blackface is offensive, whether she was attempting a racist caricature of African people, Aboriginal people, or both.

Wow, if the owner is her FIL, and presuming he was appalled by her behavior (given the quick firing and obliteration of her name from the sign), there’s probably a good chance she’ll also lose her marriage.
