Being a person of color myself, I sometimes find myself wondering about other people's ethnicities. So you know what I do? I get over it. Unless knowing their ethnicity is paramount, I just get the fuck over my curiosity. Try it white people, it works!

Half-black, half-white, with bright red curly hair and freckles. I was just asked "What are you?" yesterday as a young white woman began pawing my hair on the metro.

One of my experiences with a guy I once talked to.

Guy: So, where do you live?

Me: Long Island.

If being stalked by paparazzi is what you are expected to tolerate when you decide to become a celebrity, you should be expected to tolerate being punched in the face by celebrities when you decide to become a paparazzi

I'm no Kanye fan by any stretch, but according to TMZ, this is the same pap who Britney attacked with her umbrella back at the height of her troubles. According to TMZ, he made a ton of money off of that by selling her umbrella (which she left behind) and his dented Explorer. While celebs should know by now to keep

So, when Justin Bieber, Ben Affleck, or Alec Baldwin do it (to name a few), it's no charges, but when Kanye West does it, it's attempted robbery? I don't condone the behavior or even like Kanye, but you've gotta be kidding me.

Having worked for the Obama campaign and being disappointed with several aspects of his administration, I gotta say hearing him speak up on this issue made me really proud of him. White people (and I say this in the least offensive way possible) can never really know how utterly demoralizing racial profiling can be,

Insightful and nuanced and personal and moving.

Also: "Whatever he did." Cuz, y'know, you still don't know. Because "what he did" was try to protect himself from a drunk racist with a gun.

What I love about this: walked away from what, lady? From the man with the gun who jumped him and had been watching him for several minutes? You mean... walked away from Zimmerman's actions? I thought old Zimbo wasn't doing anything.

Why wouldn't the Neighborhood Watch and member of the Homeowners Association not know the 4 streets in his development? I REPEAT: FOUR STREETS

Exactly.

Shut up. Please. Just shut up. We are so tired of hearing that we cause our own demise all the damned time.

It is, and frankly I'm astonished at the lack of awareness it shows. Either she has no clue how she comes across, or she doesn't care, and either possibility is very disturbing.

That she calls Zimmerman "George," like they are on a first-name basis, while referring to Martin by his full name is odd and off-putting.

We're very sad that it happened to him.

"He could have walked away and gone home."

"I believe he played a huge role in his death. When George confronted him, he could have walked away and gone home. He didn't have to do whatever he did and come back and be in a fight."

So Trayvon Martin didn't have the right to stand HIS ground and defend himself. Wow. And to say that race played no role. This is sick.
