Tech is not objective. Just look at design-aesthetic. Sure, spec-wise you could argue some objectivity, but it ultimately comes down to personal judgment whether you think an SSD makes a laptop run smoother, or if the retina display looks crisp.
I'm worried that such an upvote/downvote system would create a hivemind mentality, and not a good one. Trolls always outnumber good contributors. Which I why I love the gamification system: it separates the good contributors from the trolls, and the great contributors from the good contributors.

I see a huge problem with this thought experiment in that you can't trace death to a single instance—the point at which presumably (according to the thought experiment) your conscious would transfer to a surviving version of you.
