I agree with Adams that boredom drives innovation, but I don't think that the new gadgets coming out daily will deplete this boredom. Rather, I think that we'll come to expect the novelty they give us and become as bored with them as we were with what we had to begin with.

Probably Cat's Cradle. I know that it's arguably his most popular but I didn't like it as much as his other works. I haven't read it in a while so I can't remember what about it I thought was lackluster, but I think I felt it didn't have as much zing or as strong a moral message as Player Piano or Sirens of Titan or…
I'm an obsessive Vonnegut fan so I'm glad he has three up there, but I wish they would have included Player Piano too. I think that's one of his most underrated books.
