My history teacher once opined that the original Oz movie was a propagandist metaphor for the "false allure" of communism, where Oz is a communist paradise and Dorothy is the allured one unsure of capitalism, but ultimately decides "there's no place like home". I suppose it makes some sense.

It's really good, and it has a very satisfying ending.
