You’d think so, but much smarter men than I have driven themselves to madness trying to crack the code of the Weinermobile media business. Rip to Weinermobile monthly.

Sam, yes. Look for it in the next month or so. We’ve interviewed Willy T. Ribbs, Shirley Muldowney, Sir Stirling Moss, Parnelli Jones and a bunch of other people for it. Should be good.
Buddy, hell yeah. Congrats on having excellent taste. The car was in Canada, and wasn’t 25 years old when I imported it. I told them it was a racecar and promised not to register it. There’s a special procedure for that, but make sure you get everything in order before you get to the boarder because the people working…
The tablet edition is a bit of a stinker for us. We could do more with special features for the tablet, but it’s hard to justify from a business standpoint. It’s tough to predict what we’ll do in the future, but we’re putting a lot of energy and effort into our website now.
I haven’t heard of people getting discounts based on coverage, but I’m sure it’s happened and continues to happen.
The printed ones are physically heavier, for one. There are also a lot of differences in tone, subject matter, etc. I think generally, sites like Jalopnik have done a much better job than most of the older automotive media operations when it comes to building community and getting people to really care.
The frequency of Autoweek used to be our big advantage, but you’re right, it’s not anymore. I’m a big believer in trying to create a great editorial product and letting readers find it. We’ve seen really strong growth in print and online lately, using that strategy. It’s really easy to get distracted by shiny new…
1. 8-Liter Bentley, or McLaren F1, still haven’t driven either.
That’s tough, because I’m a dumbass when it comes to making smart decisions about cars. I will say that most of the guys I know who have made money on cars they’ve bought will say to buy cars you like and take care of them, rather than counting on them to appreciate. I think that’s good advice. People who buy cars…
We have a really interesting history with Vector. Not sure they were an advertiser though.
Buy a big van! I’m a huge proponent of vanning.
I wasn’t planning on going all the way out to New Jersey.
I think it’s a lot harder to sell a print magazine than it was in the past, but we’re seeing growth on the print side and the digital side right now. We spend a lot of time thinking about the experience the reader wants from a printed magazine vs what they want on the web. I do think there’s a future for print,…
HMMMMM. I dunno.
We’re always joke about doing an over 65 issue, but I actually think it’s a good idea.
Great username. I’m excited to see more performance focused cars from Kia/Hyundai. They make great engines.
Very good question. Nothing’s coming to mind immediately as far as specific cars, but I think it’s pretty clear that trends toward lightness and improved gas engine efficiency are going to have a really broad impact on the cars most people drive.
Every damn day.
It’ll be ok! If I let myself believe you’re doomed, then I have to accept that some of my projects be doomed!
I love a lot of what MotorTrend does with video. We’re hopefully going to be adding some video content in the next year or so, but it won’t be on that scale. When we’ve done it in the past, we’ve found that it’s tough to make money on, but it’s a great way to support editorial.
