The 2nd gen FX that looks like a fish was the nail in the coffin for me. The 1st gen wasn’t perfect, but I think it set the stage (for better or worse) for the sporty crossover/coupe segment.
The early 2000s M45s were so cool! They always make me think of Yakuza gangsters, in a timeless effortlessly cool sort of way.
I think the issue nowadays is a lot of mainstream brands offer the same level of luxury/features for a lot less. Look at Mazda for example, or even most top-trim Toyotas and Hondas, hell even most Hyundai/Kia come loaded.
I remember in the early/mid 2000's thinking Infiniti made futuristic, forward-thinking, and visually striking vehicles. Those models still look great and even the tech holds its own today (who else had 360 cameras and 3D maps in 2007?!)
A connected chain of efficient buses running autonomously on a track?? What next, you’re going to say they run 24/7 and only cost a dollar to ride? What socialist future are you living in?!
Why not have the best of both worlds?!
From what I’ve heard/read over in Europe, these new eHEV Hondas are simply fantastic. I’d definitely consider the hatchback for under $30k
Them BMW bots look ready to f*ck
Honorable mention to Volvo’s interior-matched leather fobs, and Land Rover’s activity wristband 🤓
Just posted the same. My ‘17 Alltrack is at 110k miles and running strong
My 2017 VW Alltrack is at 110k miles and still looking great and running strong. These Mk7/7.5 Golfs are pretty solid, I’d imagine a more basic Golf would run even longer.

A good manufacture does extensive internal crash testing including scenarios like your unfortunate crash. The tests are just a standardized way of judging manufacturers and marketing. I know Volvo responds to crashes in Sweden to take data, including their massive crash test center.
Just to appreciate how fare we’ve come (though I think a Volvo has been building to meet this test since the early 2000s) :
Don’t buy the Jetta but instead it’s more expensive platform twin? Don’t recommend the Civic yet suggest the Integra?
I think you’re overestimating his reach and inflating their importance. Tesla alone is barely breaking the top 10 - the big tech companies combined are worth over 10 trillion and I consider their control over a majority of the world’s servers and data a bigger threat than Musk with a ketamine grenade
Elon? Cringe? Never
Nice. My friend just picked up a refreshed 2024 that I rode in last week and loved it. Hopefully once the Polestar 3/4/5 come out prices plumet. I’d also consider a Volvo C40 which I rented last summer - structurally similar to the P2 and drives like a bat outta hell
Nice, very jealous I missed that. Is it a base trim or somewhat loaded? If loaded for under $30k with that warranty, then great find!
