Bean counters and management should be required to work the assembly line at least a few days out of the year, or at least observe from the sidelines. The same way some CEOs work the call center or warehouse floor.

FWIW I drive a ‘17 Alltrack with nearly 100k miles and it’s been incredibly reliable for me; just drove it up and down the entire west coast during a snow storm with zero hiccups. Though from what I’ve read, the MK7 Golf platform is the only real outlier in terms of being a reliable VW

I said what I said lol

You’d think the defrost would automatically engage when in freezing temperatures, sort of like how the AC turns on automatically when too hot.

Cars like the EV6 with automatic pop-up handles shouldn’t experience this issue as it’ll automatically bust through the ice for you. Mercedes even made it an explicit marketing point for the EQS that it has “the strongest door handle motor” capable of breaking through sub-zero ice.

Wasn’t this covered in another article like 12hrs ago?

I smell marketing BS. They probably had to redesign it to comply with more strict pedestrian safety requirements.

I’ve always seen this strictly as a cost-cutting measure. Safety + cost-cutting should never be used in the same sentence let alone practice; redundancies are a good thing.

People willing to give a company $50k then joyfully work for them for free while having wet dreams about the CEO is even more crazy

Couldn’t you say the same thing about the Targa? Unnecessarily overweight and not as sporty as its counterparts - wHaT’s tHe PoInT?!

I wonder what’s the most modern car with swappable parts. I bought my first VW recently (MK7 Golf Alltrack) and it didn’t occur to me how easy it is to mod thanks to VAG’s massive parts bin.

I want to live in the alternate universe where Koenigsegg ended up buying Saab

I’ll take “no longer fear of dying in a 30mph crash” for $100

The original G70 wasn’t ugly by any means, but the refresh was extensive and a massive improvement IMO

I hate to admit that I use auto parallel parking on my Golf nearly every day... the only way to make it better is if you didn’t need to “scan” for a spot beforehand

Ya, but to answer your question it’s $10k cheaper than a Bolt with 250 miles of range

Pics or it didn’t happen!

BYD Dolphin

The BYD Dolphin is $18k (in China) and has a range of 250miles. Tesla was going to use the same battery pack as the Dolphin, as it’s genuinely a revolutionary design, but I assume this deal fell through and thus why they can’t bring a $25k car to market

From what I understand, the only way Tesla was going to offer a $25k model was by striking a deal with BYD to use their “blade battery”. So I assume this deal fell through and now Tesla is scrambling?
