I may never get over BvS. Zach took two really great stories (Death of Superman and Dark Knight Returns) mashed them together and IMO gutted what made both stories great.

Major villains from the comics do tend to have the advantage of some proven appeal (at least to that audience), and probably some work having already been done on why they’re distinctive. Still needs a good adaptation no matter how established the character, though.
