A Z51 C7 would be a closer comparo, and the C7 would still be the better performer.

It’s done wonders for the AMG GT R. It put down faster corner exit speeds than even the 911 Turbo S at C&D’s Lightning Lap.

I’m diggin’ the new widebody Supra.

Look again. Most of the transaxle on the AMG GT is behind the rear wheels. It’s part of how they were able to get a 47/53 F/R weight distribution. Not the case on the C7, which is why it only manages a 49/51 F/R for the NA models.

Seconded. That’s gonna be, in reality, a 3400-3500ish lb curb weight for the base model. Imagine the weight of the future Z06 and ZR1. Whoof.

Dear GM,

Whoof.

Then an LSX 454. Or the previous gen GT500's aluminum motor. Or Kirkham’s 427 where the block is machined from a solid billet. Something that’s not based off engine architecture from 1968. There’s so many newer engines out there that can push 1500hp if built correctly.

Still using the Windsor? Why not go for something more modern? Like maybe use the block from Ford’s new 7.3L truck engine as a base?

That wasn’t the only substantial move they could’ve done. The AMG GT-R situated the rear transaxle to mostly behind the rear wheels, giving it a 47/53 F/R weight distribution. Doing something like that to a next gen front-engine vette would’ve improved things significantly.

No such thing as a Corvette ZR2. ZR2 is an offroad package for the Colorado.

It’ll be the Ford GT we wanted.

Did astronauts drive these?

I believe it! My ‘80 C3 already had the stock exhaust removed for a true dual when I bought it. It has sidepipes now but, holy hell, talk about lazy engineering back in the day.

Don’t even need to go that far. You can get 300hp from a lowly base L48 with an intake, cam, headers, exhaust, and a tune for the stock distributor and carb.

Correction: You only look cool in a C3 if you’re in a C3.

GM reps have been interviewed saying if you can afford a C7, you can afford a C8. They’re not gonna leave a price segment where most of their sales come from.

I’m one of those few that feels it should’ve stayed front-engined because muh tradition. The Corvette is the American 911 in that each gen has been an evolution of the previous while retaining the same layout. That’s no longer the case with the arrival of the C8. A lot of people kept saying they went mid-engine

That rear hatch will be fun to open on a rainy day.

Could be a Ford P68 ripoff too.
