It’s not that the chassis can’t handle 500hp, it’s that BMW doesn’t put 300+ width tires at all four corners like GM and Ford are doing for their hipo models.

Apparently in order to keep costs down, they basically made the chassis universal for all models, meaning it had to be stiff enough for the convertible while also being made of aluminum. If they had made a coupe-specific chassis like they did with the previous gen Z06 and ZR1, they probably could’ve shaved some weight…
