I went the same route as you, bought the cheapo Harbor Freight welder and have been having all kinds of moronic fun with it.  Yes, I’ve been creating mostly “art” with it but I’m at the point where my welds are strong enough to be functional.  First project was a welding table that’s still holding up to this day.

Agree with all of this and it can be applied to off-road tires as well.

Loved that feature on my old F150, when I’d go surfing, I had the code written on my surfboard with a Sharpie.  It was one less thing to worry about.
