The older I’ve gotten, the more I began to appreciate Sector 9 boards and have bought a couple. They are perfect for just cruising around and carving.

While I wouldn’t demand that every new car has an auxiliary input, I’m glad my FJ and my Jeep have them and I use them all the time. When I go go wheelin’, there are areas that just don’t have any cell reception at all and I can listen to all of my music with a dedicated device, either an iPod classic or an iTouch.…
That’s the logic that my brother in law and I have in regards to my niece and nephew (9 and 13); drivers education can only teach so much.
My nephew luvs my JKUR and when he turns 16, he’ll probably buy it from me (yes with a substantial uncle discount), however before I hand over the keys, his father and I will not…
package including Rancho shocks, a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, skidplates, a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, a “heavy-duty air filter,” and dual exhaust.
Yes to you both! I want to see how they set up the suspension, what parts they used, their cage and tire carrier set up. Or take it to someone like Stacy David to go over the truck and tell us what went into it, being used, etc.
Not really a fad, at least for the Jeep pictured, there is a reason. In that situation, especially with JKs is that you can put on a larger tire by removing the fenders, and get more articulation out of your suspension. Also add in a wider axle (usually for strength and stability) and the wheels and tires get pushed…
Jeep Grumpers; just the most ridiculous things ever, close second is the Angry eyes/headlights. They look more comical than menacing.
Yeah, that’s the other item people miss out on when they go from a stock 29 inch tire to a 35 M/T; the braking is terrible. That’s one area that I still have to address on my JKUR.
As for the FJ, when I get new tires for that, I’ll probably go with a 33 A/T (I have 31's on it now), though I’m not sure how much that…
Hmmm, such temptation as the Sunbird coupe was my first car and I have to say that the little coupe with a manual transmission, took a lot of punishment. Granted when it was sold, one could take the key out of the steering column while the car was still running, reverse mostly worked, and it had logged many miles as…
Or even anything else with a solid axle set up (one could always do an older Blazer or Toyota as well). For me, I’d never buy a brand new rig just for wheelin’. I’m on my second Jeep and they’re great but I’d never plop down $40k of above for a Wrangler that I know I’ll sink another $10-$12k into it, beat the crap out…
X2 on the locked wheels is what I was wondering as well. So many other questions as well:
-Why didn’t he straighten out his steering and throw it in reverse?
-Why didn’t he go down hill instead of winching up hill?
-More importantly, why didn’t anyone say anything when the rear tire started to hit the bed? Not only is…
I’ve never understood that mentality and live by the rule “if it works for you and you’re happy, more power to you”. It’s kind of like those folks in the Jeep community that says “... oh the TJ, JK, JL isn’t a real Jeep” as their CJ has Ford axles, a small block Chevy engine, H1 rims and the only real Jeep item left…
Great photos and great story!
Pretty much spot on and for myself, I’m between groups 1 and 2 as I can’t thrash as much as I like since I have to drive my junk home. What’s even better is going down to the local OHV park, like Hollister, and watching subset #3 sweating at the thought of getting any kind of scratch or mud on their rig.
Ditto. The other draw to it is that you get to get close to the race rigs, talk to the drivers and walk up and down the pits. Probably the best thing is standing next to the first car in the line up as they all start their engines.
Indeed she is!
Very similar situation that happened to my wife, twice. In both instances, she was pulled over when the cops wanted to check out her car, first time it was a Jeep LJ and the second was with her new JK. In both stops, the cops wanted to check out the interior, asked her how she liked it and admitted that the only…
Both vehicles are very relevant to my interests! At KOH, I saw a group of Miata’s all fitted with MT tires and lifted suspensions just having a blast in the desert and thought “Damn, that’d be fun to do”
This does seem pretty cool, in that it looks light enough to tow behind any capable SUV (and hopefully flat tow it rather than using a trailer).
