While I agree that this thing is overpriced and underpowered, I also understand why it is. Miniaturized electronics cost more, always have, and always will. This thing is tiny. Sure it's using older hardware, but for browsing the web, document editing and multimedia stuff, those specs should perform well enough. You

@csc3: The iPad cannot run OSX software, this laptop can. This very expensive, under-powered laptop can.

Sweet! Now if I can just find a cross-dressing Indian drummer the band will be complete.

So this guy is a co-boss named Jim? Sounds familiar...

I refuse to post a comment to any article related in any way to Justin Bieber.

These charts would be a lot more telling if we had actual numbers. Looks to me like a good portion of both of those charts should be listed under one name "Custom/Other".

@redman042: It's six of one half dozen of the other. Instead of Apple controlling the carriers are. Just goes to show that people who really like Android may want to think about their choice of carrier before they just re-up. Sprint and T-Mobile seem to be pretty hands off, but VZW seems to be trying to get a tighter

@Ian Logsdon: Hopefully Gingerbread will get us past the skinning phase. As much as I like HTC Sense I can see why people would not want to use it. While power users can easily disable it that option might not be readily apparent to your average user.

@Michael Reynaga: You'll also notice Nokia N900 & "Full Android on Vogue" (an old WinMo). Android is just that versatile and easy to develop for. I myself ran a very stable version on Froyo on my Touch Pro 2 before it got replaced with an Imagio (which I simultaneously hate and love).

@USB_Humping_Dog: No, we shouldn't. But if that's what it takes to make Apple look like they are they only ones that do things right, well that's OK.

Since I'm happily on the $30 unlimited plan this is fine with me, but half the price only nets you 150MB? What kind of crazy robutt math is that?

@interrogator_chaplain: Possibly, if you substitute flesh (peach?) for vanilla. Which is fine because vanilla is, well, vanilla.

For people who don't care for or need a touchscreen this seem like a pretty good form-factor.

Has anyone tried this yet? I'm interested to know if they update the software any. Mainly, did they add the option to search Netflix. Lack of search on the Wii is one of the reasons I moved my Roku box back into the living room.

I for one welcome, the chance to comment on this history changing story.

I loves me some Red Vines! Doesn't really fit with the names they've used, but gives me a reason to declare my love of the candy!

@Leon Carpenter: VZW does not have an unlimited plan for $20 a month, so I don't really see what you are getting at. Cheapest unlimited plan for smartphones is $29.99.

While I respect what Steve Jobs has accomplished, the look on his face in that pic is pure dochebaggery.
