You can choose not to get a mammogram. It's only suggested screening and the evidence only supports screening after 50 years old. Your doctor can't force you to go.
I think there is benefit to the pink campaign in making women with breast cancer feel supported. There was a time when no one ever talked about cancer, and it was seen as shameful. If we can't eradicate it or cure it, I think making recognizing cancer and celebrating its survivors is a worthy cause.

It's a lot easier to succeed in life if you have someone to support you. Whatever happened, happened and there's nothing to be done about it, so why make it difficult for your child and his/her child?
So young women can only look up to a finite number of women. Good to know!
