Um, Jezebel. When he was fucking arrested for wearing a t-shirt with a message the school found unfavorable, yes, that was a violation of his First Amendment rights. Particularly since he was wearing a shirt defending his Second Amendment rights, meaning it could be interpreted as "political speech" without much irony

I'm on the lib-Dem side of this particular debate, BUT, this is some bullshit. It's a hunting rifle on a shirt that says NRA Protect Your Rights, which I'd agree is not a violation of the dress code.

I think it's important to point out that this headline is not accurate. There have been other transgender characters in comics and at DC previously. This is just most high profile inclusion of a transgender character. Gail Simone has a post up on her personal blog. Simone's entry on trans characters in comics
