I take issue with your assessment. You’re probably just being hyperbolic but these were pretty reliable and once the tires we switched to a different brand the problem went away.

I had one of these as a rental in 1998. The door failed to close all the way so I gave it a butt bump, like I would my regular car, to seal the deal. I ended up denting the door. Thank goodness we had a tiny plunger for sinks at work. I used it to suck the dent out with only the tiniest crease left over.
