America has a long tradition of anti-Catholic bigotry. Heck, it's the reason my grandpa joined the Klan. High school sports should be about sportsmanship - I realize this is often not the case. An apology is appropriate.

I once test drove a 70's 308 with 100K miles on the odo (actually, it had just flipped over, IIRC). Test drive was on cobblestone streets in the Bronx. It felt old-school Mercedes solid. Ferraris may surprise you.

My old 190-16v says you are correct. God, I miss that car.

I had one circa 2003. In some ways it's the BMW 2002 of now - a sensible car with awesome driving dynamics. But ... it was boring as hell unless massively exceeding the speed limit. Wound up selling it and buying a late 80s S-class Benz. Which was also boring, but at least solid and luxurious.

Not a project I'm willing or able to undertake, but interesting for the right Anglophile car nut. Hard to put a value on something this unique. I voted NP.

It probably also depends on how good a trader he was, if my experience at (Redacted) is typical.

Yes. Until your flight home from Paris is diverted to Boston because of bad weather in Ontario.

What young person doesn't crave adventure in pursuit of a noble cause? I'm amazed so few actually go.

So, what's your plan?

Yup.

Ergo log is a wonderful site - glad to see it here on LF.

But nothing else you buy online needs such massive after-sales support and service, either. Cars are a pretty unique consumer product.

Pretty sure Texas collects the sales tax when you register the car. (At least that's how they states I've lived in do it).

It's a reminder not to tailgate. A LOT of people could benefit from that.

Your honesty and maturity become you. Here's a follow out of the greys. (I think that's how this works)

I once test drove a late 60s Porsche 911 with something similar.

ETA: the right reason to do it is because your kid really wants to, not because it fulfills your frustrated ambitions. (Source: friend who was distantly related to Leslie Gore, 1st-hand experience)

It can work if you're vigilant and willing to walk away from situations that activate your radar.

I have mixed feelings. I'll never buy another GM car again after the way a dealer treated me. OTOH, when the dealer model goes away, and it will, a lot of people are going to loose jobs, and for many their loss of income may be permanent.

That's an option.
